Graduate Job Hunters Need to Stand Out from the Crowd
Leading graduate recruitment and careers advice website Gradplus.com comments on the latest figures showing that competition for graduate jobs and graduate schemes is now more competitive than ever.
12th July, 2011: A report from The Association of Graduate Recruiters has found that there are now on average 83 applications for every graduate job opportunity.
Commenting on the findings, Nick Godwin from Gradplus.com comments;
“The figures published highlight the fact that graduates increasingly have to compete amongst themselves when looking for graduate opportunities. This naturally means that employers have plenty of talent to choose from and graduates need to make themselves stand out when applying for these jobs.
“Highlighting any relevant work experience is a great advantage when applying for graduate jobs, as this is an area, naturally enough, where many graduates have gaps in their CVs. Finding internships and work experience opportunities while still a student could pay dividends when it comes to applying for that dream graduate trainee job on graduation.
“But that said in our experience one of the main things that employers look for when recruiting graduates is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Take these into any job interview and you have a strong chance of securing that dream graduate job.
“While the graduate job market is competitive at the moment, that doesn’t mean that there are no jobs available for graduates. We currently list a number of graduate jobs in various fields, including engineering graduate jobs, marketing graduate jobs and finance jobs for graduates. Employers are always on the lookout for talented graduates so if you have not had much success as of yet, do not be disheartened, keep trying and sign up with as many graduate recruitment websites as you can.”
