Green Landscaping has within the framework of the Green Steps initiative signed a declaration of intent with ‘Välkommen till Framtiden’ (Welcome to the Future) and the City of Gothenburg. The ambition is to offer employment for up to 15 people, equivalent to 30% of the participants of Välkommen till Framtiden, who today are far from the labour market.

Participation in Green Steps and Välkommen till Framtiden’s trainee program, with focus on immigrants with no primary or upper secondary school education commences in January 2019. The objective with the trainee program is to, through a personalised “learning at work” method, train the participants within ground maintenance. Employees of Green Landscaping will offer mentorship for the participants in Green Steps, and the participants will get access to a workplace and a context. After a maximum of 24 months the participants will receive an industry work certification, equivalent to a secondary school education, and future career opportunities.

During the spring, Green Steps launched its pilot project together with Arb.Vux in Gothenburg, where seven people already have been offered employment in Green Landscaping. Välkommen till Framtiden is a collaboration between AB Framtiden, Arbetsmarknad och vuxenutbildning, Folkuniversitetet and the Swedish Public Employment Service.

"Green Landscaping needs skilled employees, and we can offer a workplace full of opportunities. Today, many people with a foreign background and insufficient education end up outside the labour market, and they lack the opportunity to enter it without additional education. Through Green Steps we take responsibility for the integration and may contribute to a better future for our participants, as well as a better society through decreased social exclusion", says Johan Nordström, CEO of Green Landscaping.

"We look forward to collaborating within Välkommen till Framtiden, where we together create conditions for immigrants to join a real workplace and a real job", says Bo Strandberg, Process Manager Välkommen till Framtiden.
