Schneider Electric and Parkeon have announced the signing of an agreement for the development of an electric vehicle charging system, integrating energy management and pay by space technology. This agreement will allow the partners to create a commercial and technical offer for pilot schemes on electric vehicles and related charging infrastructures, in Europe and North America, starting in 2010. In public infrastructure, the issues of parking management and charging for electrical vehicles are directly connected. The solutions are initially aimed at on-street and off-street parking and other similar applications. Schneider Electric will bring its expertise as a global specialist in energy management and Parkeon, its skills as the world leader in urban mobility, transit, parking and payment solutions. The projects managed within this partnership will enable both organisations to develop solutions and be ready to start installing on street and parking infrastructure for electric vehicle charging in 2011. “Through this partnership, Schneider Electric reaffirms its ambition to offer simple, efficient and accessible charging solutions for future electric vehicle users, explained Frédéric Abbal, President, Schneider Electric France. This collaboration between Schneider Electric and Parkeon, both major players of their sectors, is the best way to rapidly develop the electrical vehicle market.” “Thanks to the obvious synergies existing between both partners, Parkeon will have the possibility to support cities, and local authorities to manage their urban transport plans and the position of the electric vehicle in their cities in the future. Furthermore, this collaboration will allow us to further develop our offer for parking and transport organisations”, declared Yves Chambeau, President of Parkeon. By combining their expertise, Parkeon and Schneider Electric will be able to provide their local authority clients with a unique solution to manage urban parking facilities integrated with an electrical vehicle charging infrastructure.
