Kari Cornicelli Assumes Role as Chair of HFMA
(June 24, Las Vegas) –The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) inducted Kari S. Cornicelli, FHFMA, CPA, into office as Chair of its Board of Directors for the 2014-2015 term, during HFMA’s annual conference in Las Vegas. Her term began June 1, 2014.
Cornicelli, a member of HFMA since 1986, is Vice President and CFO of Sharp Grossmont Hospital in San Diego, Calif.
“Kari is a key member of a team at Sharp that is at the forefront of population health management,” said Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA, President and CEO of HFMA. “She is also a strong leader who can effectively bring people with different perspectives together, a very important skill during this time of transformation in health care.”
Cornicelli’s involvement with HFMA at the national level includes serving on the E-Learning Advisory Group, the Health Reform Advisory Committee, the National Task Force for Revenue Cycle Key Performance Indicators, the Patient Friendly Billing Project Task Force, the National Board of Directors, the National Executive and Compensation Committees, the National Strategic Planning Council, the National Audit and Finance Committee, and the National Advisory Council.
She has also served HFMA’s San Diego-Imperial Chapter in a variety of leadership roles, culminating in president. Additionally, Cornicelli has received the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, and Muncie Gold merit awards, and is a recipient of the HFMA Medal of Honor.
Cornicelli, a Fellow of HFMA and a certified public accountant, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Weber State University, Ogden, Utah.
