HIPMUNK NOW POWERS HOTEL BOOKINGS ON YELP
Hipmunk selected as first hotel booking provider and newest Yelp Platform partner
SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 21, 2014) — Starting today, Yelp users can book hotels through Hipmunk without ever leaving the Yelp website or mobile apps. As Yelp’s newest Yelp Platform partner and only current hotel provider, Hipmunk will provide Yelp users booking access to tens of thousands of U.S. hotels. Users can expect an effortless booking experience that gives them another fast and easy way to plan travel.
The partnership comes on the heels of Hipmunk’s recent oversubscribed Series C funding round, led by Oak Investment Partners. In addition to participation from existing investors, the company also revealed that it raised additional capital from new investors Industry Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners.
“Yelp is a like-minded brand in a different industry,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO and co-founder of Hipmunk. “They care about making things fast and easy for users, just like we do. We’re excited to integrate with Yelp Platform to offer our experience to a new set of users.”
The booking process is as simple as it is on Hipmunk’s site and mobile apps. Yelp users who search for hotels now see a “Reserve a Room” button on supported hotel pages. After clicking, users are taken to a booking page within Yelp, where they quickly and easily complete all purchase information. Hipmunk confirms the reservation and sends a confirmation email to the user.
“After launching Yelp Platform, we knew we wanted to expand to additional categories,” said Mike Ghaffary, VP Business and Corporate Development at Yelp. “Our goal is to make it easy to book appointments and other services directly through Yelp, and partnering with Hipmunk is a great win for Yelp consumers.”
