IT consultancy firm and mobility specialist HiQ, together with payment and information services company Bankgirot, has developed Swish for Sweden’s six largest banks – a mobile payment service that simplifies transfers for the banks’ private customers.

Together with Bankgirot, HiQ has created a service for Sweden’s six largest banks, allowing private customers to transfer money to another person’s account in a simple and direct way without having the hassle of involving account numbers.

The joint payment service from Sweden’s largest banks enables private customers to transfer money directly to each other, as a complement to transfers via the banks’ mobile sites.

“One prerequisite for this is the new payment system for payments in realtime that we have developed at Bankgirot and now provide to banks and payment institutions”, explains Birgitta Simonsson, CEO at Bankgirot. “The payment system enables the banks to develop new payment services that can make everyday life easier for companies and private individuals. The system can handle payments in a matter of seconds, 24 hours a day, on every day of the year. The first service to be connected to the system is the mobile payment service Swish. Through Swish, banks enable their customers to send and receive payments directly from their bank accounts via their mobile phones. Simple, secure and direct” Simonsson continues.
