HiQ helps the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (GSO) with a new mobile service that makes it possible to experience first-rate concerts whenever, wherever – with better quality than streaming. The service, which was launched yesterday, went straight to 2nd place in the Swedish App Store’s top list for paid apps. HiQ is digital partner to GSO and has had an overall responsibility of the project, from idea and concept to design and development.

“The interest in classical music is huge and it feels great to offer more ways to enjoy our concerts. We will follow up with an Android version of the service this autumn. We have worked with HiQ before and they have once again proved to be a trustworthy and innovative partner,” says Måns Pär Fogelberg, Head of public and digital media for the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

The new service is a further development of www.gsoplay.se, a favourite among listeners all over the world. The website has offered live concerts with GSO and artists of the highest international level. The participating conductors and soloists include, among others, the first guest conductor Kent Nagano, honorary conductor Gustavo Dudamel, star soprano Barbara Hannigan and many more. With the new mobile solution users can quickly and easily download the concerts and experience them regardless of time and place – without a need for internet connection and with higher quality than by streaming.

“GSO is an exciting client that is truly at the forefront of using new technology to attract interest and reach a new audience. A couple years back we also helped them to develop the game Street Orchestra, which is like “Rock Band” for classical instruments. This time we are simplifying and improving the possibilities to take part of top-notch live music, no matter where they are,” says Jerker Lindstén at HiQ.

“Music has always been a part of the HiQ spirit and it’s naturally exciting to help one of our innovative clients within this industry. The world of music has truly been affected by the challenges and opportunities brought by new technology. GSO shows that it’s all about finding new channels for reaching out,” says Lars Stugemo, president and CEO of HiQ.
