DISRUPTION IN EGG PRODUCTION CHAIN AT TALLEGG
HKScan Corporation STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE, 23 October 2007 at 5.45pm
DISRUPTION IN EGG PRODUCTION CHAIN AT TALLEGG
Animal disease is suspected at one of the egg farms in HKScan's Estonian
subsidiary Tallegg's egg production chain. The Estonian authorities are
currently determining the type of disease and confirmation will be obtained
within two weeks once the tests have been completed.
Tallegg sells and markets eggs in Estonia. Due to the suspicion of disease,
Tallegg has suspended deliveries of eggs from its own production chain and put
temporary arrangements in place to manage deliveries.
The disruption is expected to have little financial significance as Tallegg
carries insurance to cover losses arising from animal disease.
The suspicion of disease is limited to Tallegg's egg production only. The
company's broiler production is not affected in any way and will continue to
operate normally.
