SCAN ACQUIRES HOLDING IN SWEDISH SLAUGHTERHOUSE

Scan AB, the company responsible for the HKScan Group's business in Sweden, is
acquiring a 35-percent interest in Bertil Erikssons Slakteri AB, a smallish
slaughterhouse and current Scan subcontractor located in the central Swedish
town of Krylbo. The transaction will be closed on 2 January 2009. The agreement
includes an option for Scan AB to acquire the remaining shares in Bertil
Erikssons Slakteri on 31 December 2010.
