A LEADING supplier of innovative products that help companies achieve best practice in health and safety is launching its next generation digital pen inspection system at IOSH 2012.

SG World, which provides simple and effective compliance solutions for more than 20,000 customers across the UK, will be showcasing InspectIT - a digital pen using intelligent technology to capture information for easily accessible analysis and reporting.

The new system enables companies and organisations to evolve from paper based processes seamlessly and without major changes to their current inspection procedures.

It writes with ink allowing the user to complete a paper based inspection report which can be displayed on each piece of equipment; the information can then be downloaded to a web based portal via the pen’s docking station.

Using Intelligent Character Recognition technology, the pen is suitable for a range of industry inspections on equipment such as forklift trucks, racking, cranes, scaffolding and vehicles, and has already been successfully piloted by a number of businesses.

Delegates at IOSH will also be able to learn more about other products in the SG World portfolio, pick up samples, speak to members of the team and take part in their lucky lanyard competition to win Red Letter Day vouchers.

There will be information about the popular Safe-INSPECT range – a paper based system which can be tailored for individual requirements to demonstrate compliance with a raft of HSE regulations and guidelines. SG World’s Contractor Management system, which maps out all the requirements necessary for contractors and sub-contractors to work safely, will also be featured at the exhibition in both its paper based and software applications.

Mark Haase, Distribution Director of SG World, said the IOSH exhibition - entitled Health and Safety: Changing Perceptions - was an excellent opportunity to showcase their products but also to talk to health and safety practitioners about key issues facing them.

“We’re delighted to be launching our next generation digital inspection system at IOSH this year. It’s the first time that this kind of technology has been used for inspection processes and enables information to be much more accessible and meaningful.

“It mirrors the traditional paper-based processes which people are familiar with so there’s no requirement for additional training and it is a natural and ergonomic interface. Information collected will enable companies to identify key trends and demonstrate compliance with confidence.”

SG World will be located at Stand E1. The exhibition takes place at Manchester Central from 6-7th March 2012.
