Blackpool Zoo has announced its festive line up of activities and has a whole host of animaltastic gifts for the entire family.

On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th children can enjoy breakfast with Santa before going to meet his reindeers and making festive gifts for the animals. If they are really good boys and girls, they will also get an early Christmas present! Booking is essential and details can be found at www.blackpoolzoo.org.uk.

Adults will find gift inspiration galore for animal lovers of any age. From memberships starting at just £33.00 to an Animal Trainer for the Day package for £200 there is something to suit all ages and pockets.

A 2013 membership allows unlimited entry until December 31st 2013 with additional benefits including a ten per cent discount in shops and cafes and half price admission into the zoo’s Playbarn and sister attractions Lakes Aquarium and the Bournemouth Oceanarium.

Over 18’s can enjoy the zoo’s popular Animal Trainer for the Day experience,  where they can assist Blackpool Zoo’s training experts with their hugely popular displays and learn all about positive reinforcement training techniques. They will also get the chance to help with various feeding and cleaning tasks.

Other great animal experiences include Keeper for the Day for £175, a Sealion Trainer or Big Cat experience for £110, a Bird Trainer experience for £90 or 30 minute Mini Experiences with aardvarks, lemurs or tapirs for just £60.

All packages include the option to add a friend for a small extra cost, free zoo entry, refreshment vouchers, shop discount and a goody bag packed with mementos.

Animal adoptions, which are £75, are a great alternative gift that will also help with the conservation of endangered species across the globe.

Blackpool Zoo celebrated its 40th anniversary on Friday 6th July 2012. It was in 1972 when 3543 visitors attended the launch, which saw TV’s Johnny Morris ride in front of the Mayor’s car on Tower Circus elephant Katsula.

Blackpool Zoo is owned by ParquesReunidos, the second largest European leisure parks operator and a leading world-wide player. The zoo is home to over 1,500 mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates set amidst thirty-two acres of mature woodland and lakes. 

The zoo’s signature animals include elephants, giraffes, big cats, gorillas, orang-utans, sea lions, primates, zebras and kangaroos. It is open every day of the year, apart from Christmas Day, from 10am.
