CARE International is ISG’s Inaugural Global Charity Partner
ISG has announced that its first ever global charity partner will be leading humanitarian organisation CARE International. This partnership forms a central element of ISG’s 2020 Sustainability Vision, which sets out the company’s commitment to acting responsibly and safely, with ISG looking to raise £150K to support the vital work that CARE carries out across the globe.
Founded in 1945, CARE is a leading humanitarian organisation fighting global poverty. CARE helps people prepare for disasters, providing lifesaving assistance when a crisis hits, and helping communities recover after the emergency has passed. CARE has a key focus on reconstruction via its Emergency Shelter Team, and after a disaster is often one of the first agencies on the scene. CARE works with local communities, through the sourcing of high quality materials, providing training on ‘building back safer’ and supporting with temporary homes and repairs until governments can implement long term plans. ISG’s construction expertise will play an important role supporting CARE in its emergency shelter response.
In addition to raising vital funds for CARE’s life-saving work over the two year global partnership, ISG is also providing training and technical assistance to the charity – specifically focusing on behavioural change in risk and safety management. A senior member of ISG’s international team is now seconded to the charity for the remainder of the year and will travel to the Philippines to witness at first hand the work CARE is doing in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan.
