THE MAIN INSPECTORATE OF ROAD TRANSPORT IN POLAND TO BENEFIT FROM AUTOMATED PROCESSES IN HANDLING CORRESPONDENCE RELATED TO ROAD OFFENCES
Itella Information is a service provider in the project
On October 23, 2012, the Main Inspectorate of Road Transport in Poland (GITD), which is part of the State Treasury, chose the Consortium of Poczta Polska S.A., Orange Polska and Itella Information Sp. z o.o., consortium led by Poczta Polska S.A., as the service provider for printing, sorting, customizing, digitizing, enveloping, receiving and delivering documents connected to the proceedings in cases of road offences. The implementation of the project is expected to deliver an increased level of automation in handling of correspondence, through standardized processes.
The value of the contract is approximately EUR 88.3 million (in excess of PLN 353.2 million). The agreement transfers responsibility for the services to the members of the Consortium, for a period of 96 months.
Itella Information Sp. z o.o joined the Consortium as an expert in transactional processes based on both paper and electronic channels. It also brings European expertise to the project, due to the global set-up of the company. The Itella Information Business Group, which is part of the Itella Group, has been working for many years with customer implementations where public authorities are involved at different levels. Itella Information is also part of several European forums focusing on e-invoicing and on creating infrastructure for electronic financial supply chains.
Itella Information will deliver its services starting November 2012. An estimated monthly volume of 900,000 documents of various types will be processed by Itella, once the implementation of the project reaches its full extent.
Within the contract, Itella Information will be responsible for handling the correspondence and digitizing the documents sent out and received by GITD. Itella will collect and prepare the documents as required by the State Treasury, according to the document type. Some documents are subject to OCR processes, and will be returned to the customer in a digitized format. The paper-based documents will be stored in long-term archives. The processes of enveloping and actual delivery of documents will be the responsibility of Itella’s consortium partners.
“We are happy to be a member of the consortium and to have the opportunity to contribute to this prestigious project. We are sure we can add value to the process with our expert knowledge, long-term experience and high-end technology”, states Miikka Savolainen, Managing Director, Itella Information Sp. z o.o.
