CMS Acoustics, the UK’s largest provider of acoustic solutions, has specified and supplied its Kinetics IsoMax Clip system for a new build extension at Headingley Hall Care Home in Leeds. Exceeding Part E standards, Kinetics IsoMax Clips are designed to completely isolate walls and ceilings, providing resilient isolation of sound and a space-saving acoustic solution. Constructed using a special rubber isolator, the Kinetics IsoMax Clip system outperforms standard resilient bar systems, achieving an additional sound insulation of up to 7dB and a load bearing capacity of 22.5kg per clip. At Headingley Hall, the challenge was to install a product that would maximise sound insulation with minimal impact on space. Based on the low profile design and high performance credentials of Kinetics IsoMax Clip, CMS Acoustics recommended the system as the ideal solution. After consultation with CMS Acoustics, W.A Brownes, specialists in drywall installation and manufacturing, installed the clips over a total area of 1700m2. Requiring only standard materials for installation, the Kinetics IsoMax Clip system was quick and easy to install and provided superior noise control. Sean O’Brien, site supervisor of W.A Browne, commented: “CMS Acoustics provided technical support at the start of the project, which subsequently ensured an efficient onsite installation. The clips were the obvious choice as the project objectives were to exceed Part E building regulations with minimal impact on living space.” The Kinetics IsoMax Clips can be attached to ceiling joists, timber and metal studs or masonry. The design of the system reduces the risk of error at installation stage, as screws cannot be inadvertently attached to the stud or joist through the resilient area. Paul Absolon, technical director, CMS Acoustics, concluded: “The Kinetics IsoMax Clip is a highly innovative and cost effective system. Suitable for walls and ceilings, it’s ideal for any project which needs to achieve superior performance standards, including noise sensitive areas such as nursing homes.”
