Component for a state-wide solution in the entire public transport service

Berlin, 5 July 2017 – Real-time data, connection management and e-ticketing for all of Saxony-Anhalt – NASA GmbH (“Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt”) is working on this scenario of the future. One important component is the recently concluded contract between NASA and IVU. The company ordered an integrated solution comprising a background system, on-board computers, and ticketing software for its state-wide system from Berlin-based IVU Traffic Technologies for multiple transport operators.

NASA’s order covers 570 sets of equipment for buses and trams, including the IVU.ticket.box on-board computer with the IVU.cockpit operating system and IVU.ticket ticketing software. In addition, IVU is equipping about 70 hand-held devices with software for mobile ticket sales. IVU.fare is being used as the background system. The transport operators use this to administer fares and customer data and to process settlements. Standardised interfaces ensure a seamless connection to the state-wide INSA AVL.

NASA’s managing director, Rüdiger Malter, explains, “Besides the competitively priced overall offer including hardware and software for vehicles and the background system, IVU’s substantial experience with integrated solutions was especially decisive for us.” Andreas Hellwig, the division manager responsible at IVU Traffic Technologies, adds, “This order doesn’t simply highlight IVU’s expertise in terms of the future-oriented field of e-ticketing. Cooperation with NASA GmbH also opens up a new region for us in Germany and constitutes an expansion of our business with public transport authorities. This will also spread to other regions and open up additional potential for future orders.”

Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA) is a fully owned subsidiary of the German Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt. On behalf of the state, NASA GmbH plans, orders and pays for regional rail passenger transport and develops comprehensive technical solutions for public transport. Together with Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) and the participating transport operators, it operates INSA, which provides timetable information.
