Kevin Mulraney has recently joined the team at The Jolly Fisherman group of restaurants and has already made his mark on the outstanding cuisine served by this award winning restaurant, and recently oversaw the launch at of The Jolly @ The Plough in Alnwick.

Kevin joined as Executive Chef in February and has been adding his personal approach to presentation and influencing the selection of ingredients to build on his reputation as one of the North East’s leading chefs.

Kevin has already enjoyed success with a Michelin Star at a previous restaurant and has been a passionate and dedicated advocate for the North East for a number of years working in Northumberland, most recently based in Kielder.

He brings a wealth of experience to the dedicated team at The Jolly Fisherman, and is working closely alongside owner David Whitehead to develop the group, with the addition of the The Jolly Fisherman’s menu to The Plough in Alnwick, and the forthcoming launch of a new flagship restaurant on Newcastle’s Quayside in the summer of 2016.

Kevin commented on his decision to join the group: ‘I have been a big admirer of The Jolly Fisherman, because it shares my vision of using the very finest local ingredients. The Jolly Fisherman offers an amazing range of dishes with an emphasis on Northumberland produce and locally sourced and freshly caught fish. I can help develop our offer, and with my own enthusiasm for quality of flavour experience and presentation, we hope to develop further our reputation.’

‘I have joined the group at an exciting time, as we develop the range of locations we operate from. The Jolly @ The Plough combines luxury contemporary accommodation with an exceptional fine dining experience, and we hope to really develop The Plough as a destination for food lovers, and build the existing strong team based in Alnwick.’

‘Added to this, we are opening the new restaurant in the summer of 2016, and this will be a real benchmark for the group of restaurants. The Quayside in Newcastle is fast emerging as the leading location for culinary talent, and has a long history of outstanding restaurants.’

‘We hope to add to this legacy and build a great site, which reflects well on the whole group of restaurants, and enhances our reputation. We will instil the same focus of quality, natural and locally sourced ingredients and outstanding presentation to the new restaurant. This is a great opportunity and exciting challenge and I am really pleased to be working alongside David Whitehead to build the brand and the reputation of The Joly Fisherman as the group grows.’
