Judy Garland and Liza Minelli, Janet Leigh, Tony Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher – celebrity names that show how talent runs in families, and that is precisely the treat in store this Saturday evening (17 September) at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, when some well-known local performers are joined on stage by their talented children for a generational musical extravaganza!

Directed by Don Pears, Music Night: Generations will see Joseph Rowntree regulars including Jessa Liversidge, Andy Stone and couple Paul & Susan Blenkiron joined on stage by their children, singing songs from stage and screen from The Sound of Music and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to The King & I and The Lion King.

“Our stage is often the launch-pad for emerging talent in York, with groups like York Orchard Theatre Company and York Light Youth performing here, but this is a great chance to see some of our adult performers take the stage with their talented children – a great way to spend a Saturday evening,” comments fundraising director, Graham Mitchell.  “We’re delighted to be welcoming back Don Pears and his band to provide live music for the evening, too.”

Music Night: Generations is at 7.30pm on Saturday 17 September.  Tickets are £10, and are available in person from the Joseph Rowntree Theatre box office on Haxby Road, by phone on 01904 50 1935 or online at the brand new theatre website, www.josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk

Music Night: Generations is a fundraising concert for the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, which is run entirely by volunteers and receives no council or government grants or funding.
