Experience activities from “back to basic” family fun to “Sounds of Summer” concerts

Leesburg, VA – April 2011 – It’s family fun every weekend starting June 17, 2011 at Loudoun County’s Lansdowne Resort, a AAA 4-Diamond, full service golf and spa resort. With a lineup of “back to basic” family fun to “kick up your heals” outdoor concerts every Friday night this summer, Lansdowne invites you to spend time with your family for a mini-vacation only 45-miles from the Washington, DC metro area.  Lansdowne is offering a range of overnight packages, which start at $219, as well as a variety of free activities for the children and adults alike.

New at the resort this year, Lansdowne is offering many free family fun activities, allowing guests to kick back and enjoy time with their family and loved ones.  Starting with Sharkey, the Lansdowne mascot named after the family-friendly nine-hole golf course, who will personally welcome you and your family to the resort upon arrival; check in with our Funcierge, our summer activities director, to review all the possible activities; and then head over to the five-pool Aquatic Complex to start relaxing. Here’s a sample of free activities:

With a majority of the activities taking place at the five-pool Aquatic Center, you’ll enjoy poolside dining, a zero depth entry activity pool, a serenity quite pool, outdoor waterslide and pop-jet fountain, an indoor lap pool and  two hot tubs, PLUS, a complete fitness center with yoga and Pilates classes, racquetball court and three lighted tennis courts.

A second tier of activities are available for a nominal fee (range $5 to $30 per person) and reservations can be made with the Funcierge upon check-in:

  • Night Golfing (Not available every weekend)

 The Funtastic Family Summer Package is a three-night, staycation package for a family of four. This package includes all the free activities listed above is priced at $757, plus resort fee and taxes.  Similar packages for one or two nights are also available ranging from $489 to $569. The three-night package includes:

  • One room with two double beds for three nights
  • Check-in with Sharkey, the Lansdowne mascot, to sign up for activities
  • The Friday night Sounds of Summer Concert on the outdoor patio

(Note: If the children prefer, for an additional charge, an age appropriate movie is available in the Amphitheatre with dinner, popcorn and drinks and is monitored by our activities director.)

  • Breakfast buffet every morning in the Riverside Hearth (Healthy and special diet options available.)
  • Lansdowne’s famous “Pig Pickin’ BBQ” on Saturday night
  • Saturday night, late swim and Luau at the pool 
  • A family style dinner in On The Potomac Sunday night
  • Sunday Cinema on the Green with S’mores kit

The Sounds of Summer Concert package, available only on Friday nights from June 17 through September 5, includes overnight accommodations, entrance to the concert, four drink tickets to be enjoyed at the concert, and breakfast for two Saturday mornings at the Riverside Hearth. Package starts at $219 (a portion of which will be donated to USO-Metro), plus resort fee and taxes. Coming soon, the entire Sounds of Summer concert lineup and packages.

The Sharkbite package, a family golf package on our nine-hole, family-friendly Greg Norman Sharkbite course, encourages good ole fashioned family fun by learning, teaching and sharing the game of golf with our juniors.
