The International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) have honoured a Nationwide Platforms Director with a prestigious safety prize.

UK Operations Director Peter Douglas (pictured centre) was awarded with the Contribution to Safe Working at Height accolade at the prestigious prize ceremony last Thursday in Windsor, near London.

Around 500 industry representatives attended the annual showcase which aims to recognise outstanding achievements across the global powered access market.

With more than 25 years in the access industry, Peter was recognised for his work in advancing health and safety both within Nationwide Platforms and across the wider industry as a whole.

In addition to responsibilities for QHSE, transport, central engineering and property for the access leader, Peter chairs the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) UK Council and plays a central role in a number of key rental and end-user safety committees.

In awarding the prizes, judges commented that Peter made an outstanding contribution to safe working in the powered access industry, demonstrating outstanding commitment in important areas including accident reporting and safety training.

After receiving the award, Peter said: “It is truly an honour to receive this accolade and it is one of which I am very proud. Over the past two years I have worked closely with many colleagues to help make our industry a safer place and this prize also reflects their dedication and hard working in making a difference every single day.

“Particular thanks goes to the Nationwide Platforms QHSE team of Mark Keily, Simon Osborne, Chris Blakeley, Jon Snead and Chris Nightingale, without whom many of our successes, including our central commitment to accident reporting, would never have been possible.”
