Top Merseyside University in Guardian league table

Liverpool John Moores University is now the highest ranked Merseyside Higher Education Institution in the Guardian’s University League table for 2016.

The Guardian’s league tables rank universities according to: spending per student; the student/staff ratio; graduate career prospects; what grades applicants need to get a place; a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results; and how satisfied final-year students are with their courses, based on results from the annual National Student Survey (NSS).

LJMU climbed 22 places to 58th, which puts them as the top University in Merseyside. This follows a recent impressive rise of 14 places in the 2016 Complete University Guide where LJMU is 67th in the UK and 4th in the North West and is one of only 11 universities in the UK to improve their performance by ten places or more over last year.

Professor Nigel Weatherill, LJMU Vice-Chancellor said:

“The latest league table success in the Guardian demonstrates our commitment to the student experience and ongoing investments in the University and is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff. We will continue to build on this excellence across all aspects of university life, from academic quality and the recruitment of new expert academic staff to campus developments and improving graduate employability.”

This puts LJMU in the top 50%, with a range of University courses in the top 20, including Journalism and Maths (20), Architecture and Film Production (19) and, ranked 11th, General Engineering.
