The new release of Exam Scheduler software from Scientia, global market leaders in resource management solutions to the higher and further education sectors, is making examination planning in higher education easier and more cost effective by optimising exam loads while reducing the time spent on administrative tasks.

A proven, easy to use, graphical scheduling tool, the software enables institutions to create an optimum examination environment that allows students to perform at their best. It also saves time scheduling exams for students who have additional requirements such as extra time, extra equipment or a separate room.

With the student experience now a key focus for all academic institutions, students’ growing expectations include provision of a well-spread, personalised exam timetable delivered early in the academic cycle. Students who have an overloaded and cramped examination timetable are less likely to perform well and reach their full potential.

The Exam Scheduler software helps reduce arduous and time-consuming administration for exam schedulers by ensuring that resource data need only be entered once and can then re-used in subsequent exam periods. The allocation of seats and the planned provision of special arrangements for students with additional needs can all be automated.

The result is more effective and efficient exam scheduling, reduced administration costs and a reduced need for hiring external space during exam periods.  The advanced scheduling capabilities also enable maximised utilisation of available space, while minimising the number of supervisors and invigilators necessary by reducing the number of sessions.

Commenting on the software, Scientia’s Group Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Djahanbakhsh said; “I am really excited about the innovative enhancements to our exam scheduling software and I know our customers are too – particularly because of the possibilities it offers to help students with special requirements.”

“It is fitting that as Scientia celebrates its 25thanniversary this year we are able to offer such strong product solutions to address modern issues and challenges faced by our customers.”

“Looking even further ahead, as the popularity of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) grows they may well bring additional assessment requirements too.  Universities with an efficient examinations department will be well placed to take advantage of an additional source of revenue by offering assessment services to other institutions.”

Easy to use, the Exam Scheduler supports multiple users and multiple exam periods in one central database. The client software runs under Microsoft Windows. Data can be exported out of the software in various document standards, including through a browser onto a mobile device such as the student’s phone or tablet.  Available as a stand-alone product, Exam Scheduler software integrates with student record systems.
