Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association and Sky Sox Bring Heroes Classic to Colorado Springs, CO

Celebrity softball game to feature Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson, Lee Smith, Darrell Evans and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in conjunction with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox will be hosting a celebrity softball game and Legends for Youth baseball clinic featuring All-Stars, former Rockies and other MLB alumni. Teams for the celebrity softball game will be made up of members of the Colorado Springs Police and Fire Departments, as well as injured service members who will represent the Wounded Warrior Project. The event will take place on Saturday, June 21st and proceeds will benefit the Colorado Springs Fire Protective Association, the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs and the Wounded Warrior Project. To date, this event has raised more than $40,000 for charity.

Players attending* the event include 16-time Gold Glove Award winner and Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson, seven-time All-Star Lee Smith and 1984 World Series champion Darrell Evans, as well as Brian Fisher, Bobby Johnson, Skip Jutze, Bob Knepper, Mark Knudson, Gary Krug, Scott Randall and Mike Thompson.

The event will take place at Security Service Field, starting with the clinic running from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., located at 4385 Tutt Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80922. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. Gates will open for the celebrity softball game at 5:00 p.m., beginning with an autograph session for VIP guests and silent auction. Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown at 6:40 p.m., followed by the game start at 7:10 p.m.

A limited number of special VIP package tickets are available for $30 and include an Upper Reserved ticket to the game, access to a special VIP autograph session prior to the game and membership to the MLBPAA. Regular game tickets will be $10 for Upper Reserved, or $13 for Box Seats. Group tickets can be purchased in advance for groups of 20 or more for $7. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.skysox.com, in person at the Sky Sox box office or by calling (719) 591-SOXX. Five dollars from each ticket purchased will be donated to and split evenly amongst the Colorado Springs Fire Protective Association, the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs and the Wounded Warrior Project.
