Latest materials offer support to installers with their braking replacements

24 November 2014, ….Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML) today announced that Federal-Mogul’s premium braking brand Ferodo® has launched its latest support package for installers, including a new competitor test, vehicle-specific installation guide and technical tips. The package provides informative and essential materials to technicians, enabling them to perform their tasks more efficiently and to the highest standards.

The package is the latest in a series of technical support and tools produced on a regular basis to maintain the Ferodo promise offered to customers, with Ferodo ‘You’re in control’. Federal-Mogul believes that offering this level of technical support alongside premium OE-quality products is key to serving customers better, who are in turn the core of the business.

“As brake replacements become more complex, providing customers with good technical support is something we consider as increasingly important for the service we want to provide,” said Jerome de Bruycker, Federal-Mogul Motorparts Senior Group Brands Manager Europe. “These materials, along with the other technical support tools we offer, are designed to make the fitting of components as easy as possible for installers. As an OE supplier, our products are made to the highest standards and the competitor tests are the perfect support tool to illustrate our premium performance.”

The most recent Ferodo competitor test featured within the support package, is the number seven, in a series of benchmarking activities that compare important braking characteristics with other products and competitors in the market. This latest comparison looks at parking handbrake performance and the ability to keep a vehicle stationary on an incline, a test that is often requested by vehicle and OE manufacturers. The results demonstrate that 50 percent of
the pads tested – which covers a strong representation of the products in the European Aftermarket – failed to keep the car from rolling away during the test. Ferodo proved again the premium quality with successful holding the vehicle on the incline without it rolling away as the brake pads and discs cooled down.

Also featured in the support package is a new technical tip, number nine in a list of Ferodo tips available, highlighting possible issues with a vehicle and the solutions. The latest tip focuses on brake dashboard warning lights, specifically what the lights represent and the suggested actions when they appear. A recent survey suggests that 46 percent of drivers don’t understand what the brake warning light means on their vehicle; but with Ferodo you have the answers, and solutions.

To complete the technical package there is a new vehicle-specific installation guide, number six in the collection of installation guides, providing a step-by-step manual for installers on how to change the electronic parking brake on a Citroën DS4, an increasing trend within the market which sees more technical installations required. The range of installation guides has been produced to help technicians with these common technical braking issues during installation to optimise their braking replacements.

This support package, competitor test and all the other supporting services and tools can be found and downloaded from www.ferodo.com. The website provides 24/7 access to all these added value services offered to customers at just the click of a button such as online catalogue, car of the month and the updated New Product Information.
