Zero Emissions Taxis and Black Cabs
Fuel Cell technologies
British Innovation

On March 26th, the government announced that £45 million will be made available to help taxis in London and other cities ‘go green’. If you would like expert comment on how British hydrogen fuel cell technologies could be part of this, may we propose the managing director of the world’s leading independent supplier of fuel cell technologies?  Intelligent Energy is a British public company that works with vehicle manufacturers worldwide and has already proven its technologies in a fleet of London Black Cabs in daily operation.

The company has recently announced that it is to lead a UK industry consortium that will develop – using Intelligent Energy’s fuel cell technology - a new class of zero-emission, light commercial vehicle that could make a substantial contribution to improving urban air quality. £6.3 million of government funding has just been announced for this programme, which will also deliver knowledge and products that could be used to support the development of a new generation of Fuel Cell taxis.

Intelligent Energy's motive managing director James Batchelor says; “Taxis are one of the largest singles sources of toxic emissions in London and other cities, accounting for as much as 35% of emissions from transport in the capital. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles provide a much greater zero-emission range than conventional EVs and hybrids and emit only water, so are ideal for these demanding return-to-base applications. British-developed Fuel Cells could start cutting city smog in the very near future."
