The Martinsons timber group has assembled and delivered a stand with seating for 1744 spectators to Östersund and the Jämtkraft Arena over the course of just five weeks. Football club Östersunds FK needed the stand so it could meet the arena standard required to be able to host home matches in the Europa League group stage.

“The stand from Martinsons was simply a necessity if we were to play in the Europa League. We had to act fast and therefore needed a reliable supplier. And, as usual, our collaboration with Martinsons worked a treat”, says Daniel Kindberg, chairman of the football club.

On 24 August, it was clear Östersunds FK was qualified to the group stages of the Europa League that started in September together with Athletic Bilbao, Hertha Berlin and Zorya Luhansk. But in order to play their home games in Östersund, UEFA required the Jämtkraft Arena be updated from category 2 to category 4. This meant that the arena had to be equipped with another 1700 seats at very short notice.

“We have a very long and good experience working with Martinsons and in this case, our situation was touching on the extreme in view of the short time perspective. It was only a success thanks to a fantastic piece of teamwork between suppliers, contractors, club and Östersund municipality. We're very pleased that Martinsons could give priority to this job”, Kindberg adds.

For Martinsons’ part, work was facilitated by them having delivered to the Jämtkraft Arena before. They also possess all the drawings from earlier stands so there was no need for a new project to be started.

“This meant we could deliver at short notice. And naturally we wanted to help a client that we have collaborated with previously. And the Club too for that matter. They've had an incredible journey and it feels good to be part of it”, says Daniel Wilded, Product Manager at Martinsons.

The delivery comprised a total of 60 cubic metres of glulam and Martinsons also stood for the assembly, which was ready about a week before the first group match.
