With the aim of contributing to opening a space for dialogue between the
governments of Uruguay and Argentina, the Board of Directors of Oy Metsä-Botnia
Ab has decided that the company will suspend the civil construction works at
its pulp mill site in Fray Bentos for 10 days starting 7th April 2006. The
construction work will start again 18th April 2006.

To facilitate a definite solution of the controversy between both countries,
Botnia will continue to provide all available information on the project and
the operating conditions of the pulp mill.

Botnia's pulp mill is the largest industrial investment in Uruguay's history.
The investment amounting to 1 billion USD will boost Uruguay's gross domestic
product by 1.6 percent and create directly and indirectly about 8,000 jobs in
the country.
