Botnia has agreed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private
sector arm of the World Bank Group, on further studies into the combined
environmental impacts of the pulp mills being built in Fray Bentos.

Botnia takes a positive view on the recommendations put forward by the Canadian
experts employed by IFC and is willing to support the additional studies.
“Botnia has always been a leader in environmental matters. We take a positive
view on the proposals made by the experts employed by IFC regarding additional
studies of the environmental impacts of the pulp mills. We are ready to provide
all necessary information to assure all interested parties that Botnia will
employ the best available technique in its mill in Uruguay”, says Botnia
President and CEO Erkki Varis.
