Mott MacDonald appointed on new Ellon Academy in Scotland
Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Aberdeenshire Council as project manager for the £45m redevelopment of Ellon Academy in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The new 1200 pupil academy is being developed as part of Aberdeenshire Council’s long term asset management strategy and will replace the existing Academy currently located in Ellon. Part of the funding for the project has also been awarded by the Scottish Futures Trust*. The new building will include a five lane swimming pool, community learning facility and an autism unit.
The Council’s vision for the project is to have a durable and versatile 21st century community secondary school building which embraces sustainable developments and has facilities which enable modern flexible working practices.
Mark Smith, Mott MacDonald’s project director said: “We are delighted to be appointed on this important project for Aberdeenshire Council. Mott MacDonald has a wealth of experience delivering high quality learning environments in the UK and we look forward to working with the Council and their design team on this project.”
The project is due for completion in 2015.
