1GOAL CAMPAIGN AND GOAL.COM IN CONTENT AGREEMENT The world’s largest new media football company, Goal.com, and 1GOAL, the global campaign to encourage support for their bid to realise education for all, is delighted to announce a content agreement in the lead up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where Goal.com will be producing content on behalf of the 1GOAL campaign. With Africa’s first World Cup just over 50 days away, 1GOAL is seeking to secure $16 billion a year in funding from world leaders to ensure that the 72 million children currently unable to go to school can receive an education. Backed by FIFA, 1GOAL says this new funding should come from both increased aid commitments from rich countries as well as budget commitments from developing countries. The South African Government will be hosting a High Level Summit during the World Cup which will set out a road map to achieve this. Led by Co-Founder and Global Co-Chair of 1GOAL, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, and fellow Co-Chair Sepp Blatter, FIFA President, the campaign has a host of high-profile supporters including Gordon Brown, Hillary Clinton, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Zinedine Zidane, Bono, Ban Ki Moon and Inter Milan. “Education for all is a necessity, and we are delighted to offer Goal.com’s support to 1GOAL to help make this a reality,” Gianluigi Longinotti Buitoni, Goal.com Chairman and President, said. “Football is a powerful medium to generate support, and we will lend ourselves to this campaign to bring about change.” 1GOAL co-Chair and FIFA President Sepp Blatter commented: “We can only do this together – together we can achieve our real legacy; 1GOAL, Education for all." 1GOAL supporter and ambassador Rio Ferdinand added: “I believe that every child has the right to an education and that’s why I’m supporting 1GOAL and asking football fans around the world to join today."
