NCC awarded railway project in Norway for SEK 1.7 billion by Bane NORRead original
NCC has been awarded the contract to construct the Venjar–Eidsvoll section of railway north of Oslo by Bane NOR. The contract was awarded on July 6 and the time limit for lodging appeals expired yesterday. The order value is about SEK 1.7 billion and the contract is expected to be signed not later than October 4 of this year.
“I am very pleased that we have secured this assignment from Bane NOR thanks to our expertise in railway construction. Norway represents a major infrastructure market and we believe there is significant potential for NCC in Norway,” says Kenneth Nilsson, Head of the NCC Infrastructure business area.
NCC will build about four kilometers of new track running parallel with the existing track, between the Venjar and Eidsvoll stations. The contract includes a 380-meter-long concrete tunnel in addition to a number of bridges and viaducts.
“This project is an excellent match for our expertise and organization. NCC has successfully completed projects for Bane NOR in recent years, including the Storberget project in Porsgrunn,” says Per Jonsson, Division Manager NCC Civil Engineering Norway.
Construction is planned to start in autumn 2018 and the project will be carried out in the form of a general contract. The new dual track will go into operation in autumn 2022 and works will be completed in summer 2023.
The order value is approximately SEK 1.7 billion and is expected to be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in connection with contract signing in the fourth quarter of 2018.
