NCC is planning to commence construction of its new headquarters now that the detailed development plan has been accepted in a new judgement from the Land and Environment Court. The development plan is expected to gain legal force within three weeks. NCC’s new headquarters signal the start of the development of a new, sustainable and attractive city district in Solna.

The detailed development plan for NCC’s Startboxen property in Solna has been accepted in a new judgement from the Land and Environment Court. The likelihood of an appeal is deemed low and the plan is therefore expected to gain legal force within three weeks. The new plan grants expanded development rights for the NCC property that comprises a total of about 90,000 square meters, half of which is earmarked for offices and half for housing.

In connection with the detailed development plan gaining legal force, NCC and the Municipality of Solna will carry out land swaps to enable the development of a new densely populated urban city structure in Järva Krog. This will include three new neighborhoods featuring offices, restaurants, service and housing as well as the formation of new squares and a new street design.

“We are very pleased with the judgement made by the Land and Environment Court and are really looking forward to the next stage in the development of Järva Krog, and to creating an attractive district in one of north Stockholm’s most accessible locations,” says Carola Lavén, Business Area Manager, NCC Property Development.

NCC plans to start work on two office projects comprising some 32,000 square meters of leasable space for offices, restaurant and service. NCC itself intends to lease one of the office buildings, with about 20,000 square meters of leasable floor space, and to transfer its headquarters here. The total leasing rate for both office projects is currently about 60 percent.

“By moving to an entirely new head office, we can offer an attractive, modern workplace while also participating in the development of a new sustainable city district,” says Peter Wågström, President of NCC.

Construction work on the office buildings is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2017. The contract, with an order value of approximately SEK 1,050 million, will be registered to the NCC Building business area. The office building that will become NCC’s headquarters is expected to be completed in 2019 and the second office building in 2020.

The project is being carried out by the NCC Property Development business area. To enable the development of the entire city district, NCC will demolish its existing office property at a later stage.

NCC’s objective is to minimize its environmental impact and add value for customers and society. With environmentally certified buildings, attractive workplaces and inclusive urban environments, the development of Järva Krog will play an important role in achieving the long-term ambition of having a positive net effect on the environment.
