(Oslo, 12 September 2017) Hyon AS (Hyon), a one-stop-shop company dedicated to offering renewable hydrogen solutions, was launched today. The company is a joint venture, established on 20 April 2017, owned by Nel ASA, Hexagon Composites ASA and PowerCell Sweden AB (publ.).

Hyon offers integrated solutions for the complete hydrogen value chain from production, storage and distribution, to fuel cell technology that supplies electricity without any other emission than heat and water.

"The Scandinavian market is ready for hydrogen and fuel cell technology, especially the maritime industry from which we have already received a number of project requests”, says Tomas Tronstad, newly appointed Managing Director of Hyon.

In addition to Tronstad, Hyon has also recruited Arild Eiken as Marine Technology Director.

"Hyon’s solutions will be interesting for several maritime segments, as examples; cruise, offshore, and ferry companies requiring clean renewable energy and silent power generation", says Arild Eiken.

Although Hyon is recently launched, the two employees have extensive experience from offshore technology, classification societies and ship design.

“We are very excited to have Tronstad and Eiken onboard. With their experience we offer strong competence and know-how in addition to our products”, comments Bjørn Simonsen, Chairman of Hyon.
