Take control of mobile expenditure

In a difficult trading climate Efftel have seen an upsurge in the take-up of its Mobile Expense Management (MEM) service that helps Finance and IT departments take full control of mobile expenditure

28 November 2011 – Efftel, the telecom cost management specialists, have seen an upsurge in the take-up of their Mobile Expense Management (MEM) service over the last year, as companies seek to take control over what can easily become a ‘runaway’ item of expenditure. All the more so as a high proportion of these company mobile phones are increasingly 'data hungry’ smartphones that can rack up bills very rapidly.

The MEM service processes monthly billing against a supplier’s contractual terms, the user database and employee list. It provides bill checking that is comprehensive, fast and accurate, with reporting that can be delivered at corporate, divisional, cost centre and even individual user level.

David Rosenthal, Managing Director of Efftel, comments, “We have experienced a significant increase in enquiries and adoptions of our MEM service as companies seek to take control over their mobile expenditure. That is the primary benefit of the service – it puts clients back in complete control. MEM provides them with vital information for managing their mobile costs by processing the monthly bills, distributing reports to nominated recipients, highlighting exceptions in usage, providing cost trends and giving detailed breakdowns of users and calls.

“Another benefit of the service is that companies typically get one bill from a supplier but then need to cross charge and properly allocate expenditure to cost centres or departments – MEM can produce an interface to the accounting system, eliminating a time consuming manual exercise.

“Client feedback indicates that the detail of MEM reports is a major attraction, allowing for much greater scrutiny of mobile usage. For example, with MEM in place clients can identify unused SIMS, be made aware of unusual call patterns, overcharging by suppliers and check that refunds and cancellations have been implemented”.
