Engebø project update: Successful production of coarse garnet

Report this content

Market grade coarse garnet has been successfully produced in the test work campaign. This supplements previous successful test production of finer garnet and implies that a broad range of commercial garnet products can be produced from the Engebø ore.

A process flow sheet for production of coarse garnet has been developed maintaining recovery and market specifications. The coarse garnet test work augments the initial campaign that demonstrated production of finer garnet; ref. stock exchange release dated 27 April 2017.

The test results imply that a broad range of high quality commercial garnet products can be produced from the Engebø ore. Initial modelling using the test work data shows that garnet production that exceeds the previous sales target of 200,000 tonnes per year can be achieved.

VP Exploration Mona Schanche comments: “The developed process is based on standard equipment tested at industrial scale. We now have a reliable flow sheet for production of commercial garnet that will be basis for the ongoing pre-feasibility study. A broad garnet product range as we have now demonstrated will significantly strengthen the Engebø project.”

Further test work will aim at optimising rutile recovery and investigate ore variability.
