Gotta Catch All the Homebuyers
HOUSTON, TX (August 29, 2016) – Janice Chretien, branch manager of the Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS® Champion office, is attempting to catch ’em all, as in, the potential home buyers playing Pokémon Go.
Chretien found that Pokémon GO could be used to attract potential buyers to open houses. She is luring both Pokémon characters and potential homebuyers by setting lures at nearby Pokéstops and then leaving directional signs to point the buyers to the open house. While both prove difficult to catch, Chretien is training agents in her office on the best ways to do so as if they were part of her Pokégym.
“Maybe a mom is driving the kids around looking for Pokémon, and they come across our open house,” said Chretien. “She may not even be in the market, but she falls in love with the property and the pieces start to fall into place.”
While catching buyers in real estate won’t typically lead to battling in gyms, Chretien hopes it leads to conversations that humanize the agent selling the home. She hopes that by using the game, she will be able to connect more with millennial first time homebuyers.
