Harri Mustonen has been appointed as Managing Director of NR Rail, the new jointly owned company of Nurminen Logistics and Russian Rustranscomin.

Harri Mustonen has more than 30 years of experience in the logistics sector. The last 15 years he has worked at Nurminen Logistics in different positions. “Long work experience which has been gained in a variety of freight forwarding and transportation tasks in Finland and Russia, as well as the knowledge of working culture and languages of both countries provide a good basis to take this position of Managing Director of NR Rail,” Harri Mustonen, Managing Director at NR Rail, said.

NR Rail is due to invest in modern locomotives and enhanced cost-effectiveness. The amount and the schedule of investment in locomotives will depend on the development of customer volumes. The aim is to start the locomotive business in the second half of 2017. In future, Nurminen Logistics will be able to offer its own locomotives as part of a comprehensive service offering comprising wagons, terminals, railway yards and forwarding services at border crossings in Imatra, Niirala and Vainikkala.

The new agreement on international railway transport concluded between Finland and Russia is due to be ratified in the near future. In practice, the bi-lateral agreement sees the deregulation of rail transport between Finland and Russia in the Finnish rail network. Previously, this was subject to a Finnish State Railways (VR) monopoly.

Сustomers, whose primary contact person was Harri Mustonen, will have a new contact person. New contact information will be send to these customers in the coming days.
