SouthWestfd announces an espresso-like afternoon of 15 Minute Wonder business growth talks in the South West region.

Entrepreneurship is reshaping the modern economy, with Britain having declared the start-up capital of Europe. However, Jerry Davison, MD of SouthWestfd and Mike Watts, MD of Finance Department, work with SMEs across the South West, and have discovered that nearly 75% of MDs in the region feel they wish they had more opportunities to network and exchange expertise with other business owners.

In a recent Total Jobs' survey London was cited as the most sought after location to work in. With its excellent transport links and wealth of free or low cost networking events, people living in the capital feel well supported in their work lives. Mr. Watts conducted a quick survey amongst business owners or directors who revealed that they thought their business would benefit from attending seminars. Speaking about this, he said, "Time constraints and availability were the top two reasons putting people off from networking events in the South West, so in collaboration with Frome & District Chamber of Commerce and some other key speakers, we decided to create this event to distil information into 15 minutes."

Based on the Pecha Kucha and TED concepts of keeping presentations concise and fast paced to generate curiosity, SouthWestfd and Finance Department, in association with Frome & District Chamber of Commerce, ICAEW and The Mill Consultancy, have brought together some of the region’s most professional public speakers for an afternoon of 15 minute espresso-style talks to help improve businesses.

With just 15 minutes each to present on key business topics, speakers have distilled their knowledge into quick shots of information. Delegates attending the event will gain valuable insight into improving business; covering topics from the mechanics of crowd funding loans to a guide to successful use of LinkedIn for business, with a host of other interesting subjects.

The event will take place at the Frome Rugby Club on the 27th November 2014 from 3-5.30pm; meaning delegates only need take a part of the afternoon out of their busy schedules. The proposed order of events will include registration and networking at the beginning and a break half way through the talks, in order for delegates to regroup and get refreshments.

With talks including: Future Business with Jerry Davison; Using alternative finance to increase working capital from Tim Jones at Start Point Finance; Online Security Basics: conducting banking and accounting online safely from Adam Harling at Netitude; Jenna Yhearm from Gumption Social Media on A guide to using LinkedIn for you and your business; and Intellectual property – what you need to do? spoken by Neil Howlett from Harris & Harris, the afternoon is aimed at professionals in business, such as managing directors and entrepreneurs in the South West.

There will be a speaker panel Q&A session and the chance to network with people from all of the presenting organisations after the talks have finished. To find out more detail about the event or to see the full schedule, please visit http://southwestfd.co.uk/businessevents/
