Peab builds traffic security facility outside Borås

Peab has been commissioned to build a test facility for active safety in Hällered outside Borås. The client is Asta Zero and the contract amounts to SEK 263 million.

The construction includes a 5.7 km long asphalt road course with acceleration lines and connecting roads, culverts, two bridges and more. The facility will be developed by Asta Zero, owned by SP Technical Research Institute and Chalmers University of Technology AB and is the first of its kind in the world devoted entirely for active traffic safety.

Work will begin in August 2012 and is expected to be completed during the autumn 2014. When the facility opens, researchers and the automotive industry will get better opportunities to develop solutions for safer and more environmentally friendly traffic environments.
