Peab builds transshipment terminal outside Svappavaara

Peab has been commissioned to build a new transshipment terminal in Pitkäjärvi outside Svappavaara. The client is Northland Logistics AB and the contract amounts to SEK 151 million.

At the transshipment terminal, the iron ore mined and processed into concentrate at the mine site in Kaunisvaara outside Pajala, will be transferred from truck to rail. From Pitkäjärvi, the concentrate ore will be transported on the Malmbanan line to Narvik in Norway.

Work has begun and the facility to be ready for placing in service at the end of 2012-13.
