Peab has been contracted to carry out the expansion of Highway 50 in Närke to a dual road. The customer is Swedish Transport Administration and the contract amounts to SEK 229 million.

The assignment includes the widening of the 20 km route to alternating 2 + 2, 1 + 1 and 2 + 1 road separated by a median barrier on the route Rude-Askersund-Åsbro in Örebro County. The project also includes about 10 km side roads, pedestrian and cycle paths and nine bridges.

The road is important for both the heavy traffic and commuting traffic. It is currently heavily congested. In order to improve traffic flow and increase safety the road will be widened and rebuild on to a dual road with median barrier.

The project will be reported in the fourth quarter of 2015.
