Pihlajalinna acquires the Fit1 fitness centre chain

Pihlajalinna acquires the entire share capital of the Fit1 fitness centre chain or Kaari Oy and its subsidiary Fitnessclub Länsi-Suomi Oy from its current owner P-C. Nordensved. The company has three fitness centres in Espoo and two in Vaasa.

The acquisition strengthens the growth of Pihlajalinna’s fitness centres into a leading exercise and wellbeing operator in Finland. The Fit1 chain was one of the pioneers in launching affordable fitness centres in Finland.

In the future, the Fit1 chain gyms will be called Forever LITE gyms. Affordable Forever LITE gyms offer high-quality gym services that also support prevention and rehabilitation. The first Forever LITE gym opened its doors in Tampere in December 2018. Following the acquisition, there will be a total of six LITE gyms.

Pihlajalinna’s other eleven Forever fitness centres are premium gyms that offer, for example, gym services, group classes and extensive personal services provided by professionals.

“Fit1 nicely complements our network of Forever fitness centres. The Fit1 fitness centres are high-quality fitness centres that are well maintained. Fitness centre activities support Pihlajalinna’s preventive occupational healthcare services and rehabilitation services carried out after specialised care procedures in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The expansion of Pihlajalinna’s fitness centres to Vaasa will also create a strong foundation for launching occupational health services in the city,” says CEO Mikko Mustala from Pihlajalinna’s Liikuntakeskukset Oy.

“The fitness centre sector is undergoing a strong transformation. When we started the negotiations with Pihlajalinna, I soon realised that Pihlajalinna will be a good home for the Fit1 chain. Pihlajalinna’s strength and competent personnel will create added value for Fit1 customers and personnel. Last November, it was my 20th anniversary as a fitness centre entrepreneur, so I felt that this was a good time to take a holiday, spend time at my summer cottage, enjoy my hobbies and spend more time with my children,” says CEO P-C. Nordensved from Klaari Oy and Fitnessclub LänsiSuomi Oy.

The revenue of the entire Fit1 chain is a total of EUR 2 million.
