Megatac – the innovative floor protection film from Visqueen Building Products – has been used for another high profile project. The high performance, cost effective product, which has already gained firm favour with those involved in the repair, refurbishment and construction of commercial, private and public sector properties, has recently been employed by SAGA for a £multi-million refit of its ocean going liner, the SAGA Pearl II. Formerly known as the Astoria, the 18,591-tonne, vessel underwent a major programme of works at Swansea dry-docks to ensure its décor reflected the SAGA brand and its specification mirrored that of other ships within the SAGA fleet. To reduce the time, inconvenience and costs involved in dealing with accidental damage and excessive soiling caused to floors during the work, SAGA made widespread use of Megatac throughout the ship – from its show lounge, restaurants and library through to its bars and 253 cabins. The refit of the Pearl II is actually just the latest in a line of projects where SAGA has specified Megatac, The holiday company points to the product’s ease of application, ease of removal, versatility and exceptional strength as just some of the reasons for its continued use. Commenting on the role played by Megatac in the refurbishment of the SAGA Pearl II, a Saga spokesperson said: “By its very nature repair and refurbishment work puts floors at risk from dirt, dust, dirty footprints, spillages, impact damage and much more. Using Megatac allows SAGA to avoid the costly consequences of such damage and soiling and as such, it effectively pays for itself. “By all accounts, it’s also great to work with. According to reports from our own staff and from contractors, it is incredibly easy to lay and is simply rolled out - after which its adhesive backing takes care of the rest. It’s equally easy to remove once a job is complete and leaves behind no residue or other telltale evidence of its use. Plus, as an additional benefit, it enjoys anti-slip properties, helping to prevent accidents and contributing to a safer working environment.” Nigel Chubb, Technical Manager at Visqueen Building Products added: “We believe Megatac to be one of the best floor protection films on the market and its extensive use by SAGA and by countless other high profile customers certainly seems to support that. “To date it has been used by cruise ship and ferry operators, by the owners of luxury yachts in the South of France, at nuclear power stations and by those building a shopping mall in the Middle East. It’s also proving to be just as popular with local authorities, housing associations and with building and maintenance companies.” He continues: “We’re delighted that SAGA chose to use Megatac on the refit of the SAGA Pearl II and wish the ship, its crew and its complement of passengers all the best for the liner’s maiden voyage.” - ENDS - Image: saga pearl II exterior.jpg & saga pearl II interior.jpg Caption: Floor protection proves plain sailing.
