Viessmann launches a new gas fired boiler for compact installations

Substantial flow rate and small water store makes the Vitodens 111-W suited for homes with limited space and low water pressure.

Viessmann has launched a new model to its line of 5.9 to 35 kW gas fired condensing boilers. The Vitodens 111-W is perfect for homes where space is limited; it can be wall-mounted and, because installers need only access the front of the boiler for servicing, it can be cited in alcoves and other hard to reach locations. The Vitodens 111-W has a high flow rate making it an ideal solution for homes suffering from low cold water mains pressure.

By using Viessmann’s Cylinder Loading System (CLS) the Vitodens 111-W boiler can provide 200 litres of hot water (at a temperature rise of 35 ºC) in 10 minutes, in spite of a stainless steel primary store of only 46 litres capacity. The CLS heats cold water from the bottom of the cylinder by passing it through a plate heat exchanger, before returning it to the top. As the hot water is drawn from the top of the cylinder, a constant volume of hot water is maintained.

The substantial flow rate means the Vitodens 111-W can draw off hot water from more than one outlet at a time without any noticeable impact, something which is not always possible with standard combi boilers. As a result, the cylinder can fill a bath of 150 litres in only eight minutes, providing the continuous supply of domestic hot water (DHW) demanded by family homes. CLS cylinders can do the job of standard coil cylinders approximately 60 per cent larger in size.

Viessmann’s Vitodens 111-W new generation gas condensing storage combi boiler is the first of its products to be sold in the UK without a temperature and pressure relief (T&PR) valve, as it is equipped with all the necessary safety equipment as standard. The discarded temperature relief valve enables installation at higher levels without the need for discharging at low level.  . This makes the Vitodens 111-W much simpler, quicker and more cost effective to install as expensive, long runs of pipe down to floor level, and a Part P qualified electrician, are no longer required.
