RaySearch Laboratories AB has received an order for its RayStation® treatment planning system from First Coast Oncology in Jacksonville, Florida.

First Coast Oncology is comprised of three locations in Northeast Florida and is dedicated to providing patients with the most advanced radiation oncology treatments available for all types of cancer, in a compassionate and respectful environment.

RayStation® will be implemented for clinical use at First Coast Oncology in conventional radiation treatment planning beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. This will include IMRT with multi-criteria optimization, as well as cutting edge technologies such as full deformable registration and adaptive re-planning. In addition, RaySearch will partner with both Mevion Medical Systems and First Coast Oncology to provide planning services for the Jacksonville Mevion Proton Therapy Center that is scheduled to open in 2013.

“RaySearch has been at the forefront of innovative treatment planning software and has now assembled all of the most technologically advanced tools for patient evaluation into one system. Providing our patients with exceptional cancer treatments is our goal and I feel that RaySearch is the best fit for our needs,” says Scot Ackerman, MD, Medical Director of First Coast Oncology.

Marc Mlyn, President of RaySearch Americas says: “First Coast Oncology will be the first MEVION S250 Proton Therapy System / RayStation® turnkey solution to be installed in 2013. Once validated and put into clinical use, the deformable registration combined with multi-modality dose accumulation and adaptive re-planning will represent a powerful weapon in the battle against cancer.”

Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch Laboratories AB adds: “RayStation® can provide treatment planning tools for all kinds of radiation therapy so an advanced clinical partner, such as First Coast Oncology, that offers multiple treatment techniques can utilize our state-of-the-art software for a broad spectrum of cancer treatments. First Coast Oncology recognized that and we are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation with them.”
