After its announcement of the new “Magic-as-a-Service” (MaaS) concept on August 2, 2018, Realfiction Holding AB (”Realfiction”) now announces that Danske Spil, the #1 betting company in Denmark, will deploy the complete MaaS concept in some of their most valued retail locations.

Realfiction has successfully rented out equipment and delivered content to several individual projects and customers, but this is the first major customer adoption of MaaS into a highly scalable customer segment. The retail industry is constantly looking for new ways of attracting and converting customers and Realfiction is now entering the European multi-billion advertising market for in-store marketing with this new and competitive business model.

To begin with, the end-client, Danish state-owned betting company Danske Spil, will be testing Realfiction’s Dreamoc line of mixed reality displays at 19 Bilka hypermarkets in Denmark for two months, starting from week 40, 2018. The total order value is approximately SEK 240.000 and covers everything from mixed reality hardware rental and installation to production of high-quality content with weekly automatic updates. The displays will present a blend of studio-recorded actors and immersive 3D animations to promote the betting products Euro Jackpot and Lotto in a way that has never been done before.

“With our glasses-free mixed reality technology, Danske Spil will be able to present an attention-grabbing retail experience of what could happen if you become a millionaire, and how big the jackpots are every week. This is a great example of Magic-as-a-Service, and we are excited to take this important step towards broad market adoption of mixed reality in the retail sector,” says Realfiction’s CEO Clas Dyrholm.

With MaaS, Realfiction moves from being a hardware vendor to being valued service provider. Realfiction’s MaaS concept was created to enable unique and highly effectful in-door experiences for retail companies and brand owners. The solutions are easy-to-adopt, cost-effective and that can be implemented within existing campaign budgets. This will drive a range of use-cases as well as a much faster process from evaluation of a pilot order to large-scale implementation, thus driving broader market adaptation of mixed reality.
