AEV TO DISPLAY CUSTOM AMBULANCE AT FDIC
HealthNet Aeromedical Services to take delivery of its vehicle following FDIC
INDIANAPOLIS — While it seems the medical industry is shifting toward smaller ambulances built on the E-450 chassis, HealthNet Aeromedical Services has stepped up its critical care game with the purchase of a custom American Emergency Vehicle (AEV) Medium Duty ambulance. The West Virginia-based non-profit critical care transport organization, which owns three academic medical centers, enlisted AEV to build its newest custom vehicle — the first of its kind in the HealthTeam Critical Care Transport division.
AEV will display the unit during FDIC International 2016, the world’s largest gathering of fire professionals on April 18-23 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
“This vehicle is a prime example of how AEV is setting the bar in custom builds,” said Randy Barr, Sales Manager. “Our engineers worked very closely with HealthNet’s senior team during the pre-build face to understand the organization’s needs, including budget, safety and mission requirements. It’s important we deliver a product that makes it easy for their HealthTeam to be mission ready.”
AEV’s newest vehicle, featuring Liquid Spring suspension, was designed to facilitate patients who require a higher level of care than most transported by a local ambulance agency. For that reason, AEV’s custom-build process appealed to HealthNet. During an AEV build, it’s the CUSTOM-er that defines what custom features are needed. ALS compartments? Suction units? Recessed storage? These kinds of details are left up to the AEV customer. Meanwhile, AEV’s sliding squad bench is an especially popular custom-build feature among those who need to need to transport two patients at once.
AEV’s storage solutions are also very versatile. Customers can customize the exterior compartments, add transverse O2 storage, tack on SCBA bottle trays or eliminate storage bins altogether.
The new HealthNet unit marks its second AEV purchase, in large part thanks to the Concord Township Trustees, Caroline Luhta, Christopher Galloway and Paul Malchesky. AEV also builds Type I, Type II and Type III ambulances.
