We are coordinating with the mayor’s office a joint appearance with Rich German in support of Chicago’s initiative regarding youth homelessness.

Also while in Chicago Rich is following his passion with visits to youth centers with his message of hope.  Rich is visiting the Halsted Community Center, the Jane Addams Hull House, and other shelters and transitional homes. The funds raised from the book give away while in Chicago are being donated to the local shelters here. Rich German has skills that can be used to help homeless youth cope with their lives and some of the issues that brought them to their state.  He has done this several times in his home base in California, and with his mom being a social worker, he is aware of the sensitive nature of these kids’ lives.

Why?   “The number one thing we need to do is create public awareness. We all need to be talking about this and be aware of this so that these homeless children don't stay invisible, German said recently. “The economy is still sluggish, the number of children sleeping in cars, bouncing between the homes of friends (couch-surfing) and family members and shelters grows each year. The entire community can play a role through our volunteer efforts, through our charitable giving. Youth homelessness begins a cycle of homelessness; we can all make a difference to help these kids.”

The GenWhy Project is a vehicle, to bring awareness to the issues about and around homeless youth. The goal is to bring much needed awareness to the cause, effect and situation around why so many kids become homeless and stay homeless well into their young adulthood. The GenWhy Project is building a community, creating a network of resources and engaging youth in the U.S. to become part of the solution.

How Can You Help?   Like-minded corporations, major media outlets, individuals, organizations and foundations are encouraged to join the GenWhy Project because this generation needs help, needs a voice and needs solutions today. Get the word out, pass it on via Twitter, Facebook, email … any way you can. Interested in helping more? Go to www.genwhymovie.com make a donation, and get your free copy of Monetize Your Passion.
