Sandbox Industries Promotes Five New Managing Directors

October 26, 2011 – CHICAGO – Sandbox Industries (www.sandboxindustries.com), a Chicago-based venture capital firm and business incubator, announced the promotion of five new managing directors Wednesday.

The new managing directors will help lead the firm's growth in the areas of investment, exploration and business incubation. Anna Haghgooie, Tom Hawes and Drew Turitz will sit on advisory boards for the healthcare companies Sandbox invests in and lead investment in the newly-closed BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners Fund II. Nina Nashif will work with corporate venturing, Sandbox's accelerators, and international expansion research. Millie Tadewaldt will continue to expand incubation activities with the team's business and consumer facing web-enabled startups.

Anna Haghgooie was previously the general manager at an integrative healthcare startup and holds a BA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Tom Hawes was formerly a resident physician at Greenwich Hospital and holds an MD from New York Medical, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BA in philosophy from Brigham Young University. Nina Nashif has worked with both the public and private health care sectors in several countries and holds an MHA from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine and a BA from the University of Illinois. Millie Tadewaldt previously co-founded two startups in the technology space and holds a JD from Harvard Law School and degrees in design and communication from UC Davis. Drew Turitz serves on the board of directors for portfolio companies InVivoLink (www.invivolink.com) and Fango (www.thefango.com) and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management and a BA from Stanford in international relations.
