Business analytics leader SAS is lining up with SoarTriangle, a Triangle-based organization aiming to close the funding gap for female entrepreneurs. SAS’ support adds a local technology element to SoarTriangle’s circle of sponsors, which already includes Google, American Underground and Red Hat’s Jim and Lauren Whitehurst.

“The SoarTriangle mission strongly aligns with our SAS culture and commitment to this community. We are eager to implement joint programs to help raise awareness, support and funding for local women-led businesses. SAS’ executive-level mentoring programs and technology support will help fuel the next generation of startups,” said SAS Vice President of Human Resources Jenn Mann.

Cary-based SAS is widely recognized for its passion for education and support of STEM-related careers. The company is particularly well-equipped to help North Carolina make further strides in this area. SAS, whose senior leadership is 35 percent female, plans to provide mentors to select female entrepreneurs, along with venues and facilities for program events. SAS will also contribute select software as relevant to program participants.

“North Carolina is already above average in terms of funding female entrepreneurs. With a boost from local tech giants like SAS, we will further set ourselves apart. This kind of support will benefit the Triangle’s overall attractiveness for entrepreneurs as they decide where to locate their businesses,” said Lauren Whitehurst, SoarTriangle Principal.

SoarTriangle recently announced the 2015-16 class of its deep mentorship program. The six women-led companies selected span a variety of industries. The program, which tailors executive mentorship to each company’s individual needs, includes guidance on general best practices and fundraising awareness.

About SoarTriangle

SoarTriangle launched in 2014 as a part of Google’s #40Forward initiative. This initiative provided a total of $1M to partner organizations that plan and execute programs to increase the representation of women in their start-up communities. SoarTriangle mentored four companies during the initial 2014-15 session, which included 2015 Google Demo Day winner Mati Energy.
