Linköping, Sweden – October 18, 2017 –  International medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra (STO: SECT B) signs digital pathology contract with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Programs (RCPAQAP). Sectra’s digital pathology solution will be used in training and quality assurance programs for pathology laboratories. It will provide pathologists and scientists with a fast digital pathology solution, available at any time regardless of the participant’s location.

“The Sectra solution will enable us to deliver digital slides and a consistent user experience in difficult image programs, such as cytopathology. This due to its ability to provide a seamless microscope-like experience even on heavily z-stacked virtual slides, mobile devices and lower bandwidth connections,” says Derek Holzhauser, Chief Information Officer at RCPAQAP.

The solution will be used for the external quality assurance (EQA) programs that RCPA offers in Australia and in more than 60 other countries. Pathologists and scientists will have access to Sectra’s solution through the program portal where they will receive cases and associated questions for assessment. The solution’s zero-footprint viewer and smart streaming functionality enable access to the digital pathology images without large installations, at any time and in remote areas.

Sectra’s digital pathology solution
Sectra provides a complete solution for primary diagnostics in pathology. Sectra’s high-end review workstation provides pathologists with the right environment and tools to perform their work in a digital system and to reduce the pain-points associated with time-consuming and labor-intensive manual workflow. Sectra’s digital pathology solution also allows seamless sharing of digital slides and patient data in multi-hospital environments, enhancing the workflows around consultations, frozen sections and second opinions.

The solution is part of Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution that also supports radiology, cardiology, mammography, orthopaedics and other medical imaging. Since it is built on the same technical platform, Sectra’s solution enables efficient integrated diagnostic workflows, supporting improved collaboration between radiology and pathology, two key players in efficient cancer care.
